Higher Level Stewardship now eligible for Future Farming Resilience Fund

In a change to eligibility criteria, Defra have agreed that going forward farmers, who have a Higher Level Stewardship (HLS) agreement but aren’t currently claiming Basic Payment Scheme (BPS) will be eligible for support under Future Farming Resilience Fund (FFRF). To have an HLS agreement farmers have to have management control of the land in the agreement, which is whole farm.

Not many participants won’t fall into this category, but a few could benefit from support, as these farmers will need to make changes to their businesses as a result of changes to Defra’s environmental schemes.

Farmers or land managers who have a Countryside Stewardship (CS) agreement but do not claim BPS will not be eligible for FFRF support.
